Academic Year: 2022/2023

The Varia project is engaging the potential solutions available to humanity in its efforts to confront and address Earth’s natural disasters. Through design speculation, the project seeks to identify viable strategies that can effectively safeguard our planet and mitigate the devastating effects of these natural calamities.

PROSTHESYS – Atmos

The very essence of the Cyborg’s appearance intricately mirrors the essence of humanity, a profound aspect that holds immense significance for the valiant Human volunteers who choose to embark on the momentous Necessity mission. This extraordinary fusion of human and machine allows them to forge a remarkable connection to their past while venturing into uncharted territory on a new and mysterious planet. In this unexplored realm, they retain the ability to relate to their fellow human species, forming a bridge between the legacy of their
past and the potential of an unprecedented future.

CORPUSCLE – Cupolaria

Alongside the Cyborg body, Project Necessity has meticulously designed specialized areas known as Cupolaria. These Cupolaria spaces operate on an expansion logic, originating from the power system situated within the Internal core and extending to the Organism system, serving as a safeguard for the units.
Within the Internal core, a Power infrastructure diligently pumps the accumulated energy throughout the unit, ensuring optimal functioning. Moreover, the Functional blocks are thoughtfully separated into distinct units, catering to the diverse needs of both humans and cyborgs, offering tailored spaces for their unique requirements.
Within Cupolaria, the main activities revolve around two essential labs: the Growth Lab and the Media Lab.

AMALGAMATION – neccessity

As the settlement on planet Varia begins to flourish, it embarks on an expansion known as the Necessity Amalgamation, ingeniously built atop the organism pool, utilizing it as a vital power source.
The Necessity Amalgamation is composed of three fundamental components: Core Energy, Living Space, and Connections, each operating within its distinct unit. With the deployment of the Necessity Amalgamation, the settlement effectively harnesses the planet’s resources to create a harmonious and functional community, where core energy sustains their power needs, living spaces provide comfort and shelter, and well-established connections promote a thriving and interconnected society.

KINESIS – Agalma

The Necessity Amalgamation boasts a comprehensive transport network that interconnects its main areas, catering to both private and public vehicles. The private network seamlessly links all private zones, including residential and energy storage areas. Meanwhile, the public network efficiently connects shared spaces such as the plaza and working areas..

COSMOGONY – Anthos

As time passes on the planet, the Explorer diligently explores vast regions, gradually uncovering a substantial portion of Varia. This exploration journey leads to the ambitious initiation of an expansive system called Anthos.
The terrain topology of Varia, characterized by craters that serve as natural habitats for organisms, has been ingeniously utilized in the Necessity Project. These craters have become the foundation for constructing the first cyborg settlements.
