ABSTRACT

To unlock the potential of biomaterials, we will develop a design and manufacturing methodology that integrates the properties of the raw materials with the specific requirements of the surfaces that will make up our designs. This methodology aims to create parametric compositions of biomaterials based on the requirements and demands of each design, allowing the search for intelligent designs and precise control of the composition and deposition of the material.
To validate the compositions of the materials generated, participants will learn to prepare, design and manufacture programmable biomaterials, creating a library of samples with different compositions and applying the principles of additive manufacturing.

At the end of the workshop, participants will have a general understanding of the use and behavior of biomaterials and will be able to incorporate a computational work methodology that allows them to explore designs and fabrication of programmable surfaces.

You will master the complete design methodology, from material creation to 3D printing. Starting with biobased material composition, we will then explore Grasshopper coding to generate 3D printing paths, and conclude by bringing your design to life through 3D printing.
The aim of the workshop is to give you the process and ability to apply the knowledge for your own projects. We will provide you with a 3D print kit and machine, tools and materials. You need to have a basic understanding of Grasshopper and some familiarity with 3D printers is preferred, but not required
